I had reached the halfway point to Lothlorien as the noonday sun shone overhead. A thousand thoughts spin around in my head, twisting like vines around a dense woodland. Doubt creeps into my heart. Do I continue on to Lothlorien or turn back and confront the rift that has occured in my marriage? Can I give up and abandon this great love so easily? Yet I cannot put aside my anger and hurt. I will not give into her ambitions or manipulations but I must speak to her face to face. Fleeing is the path of the craven. I will go to her and hear her response from her lips instead of giving into suspicions and assumptions.
Having come to this decision, I turn my steed around and head back in the direction of Doriath.

The lack of response from Galadriel can mean only one thing. She does not deign to speak with me nor prevent my departure. I feel numb and oblivious to the world around me. The colors have lost their brilliance and the world darkens before my eyes. Can even the golden leaves and blossoms of Lorien bring me delight? I am dumbfounded that she would let me depart without a single world. Our love is meaningless to her, I gather. No tears have been shed over this. I refuse to let my emotions get the better of me. My people cannot see me distruaght. If our land has been affected by the recent disasters, I must remain my calm, cool, and collected self. A peice of me has died and I think I am forever changed by this exprience. Where once stood a king of green leaf and bough, now sits a lord of frost and withered trees. A chill wind embitters my heart. Whom can I trust? I placed all my faith in her and she has broken that faith.I shall place my trust in none save myself. I must prepare my belongings as I leave for Lothlorien at first light. If I do return to Doriath it will not be to woo her back, the time for such things are past. I would desire to help my kinsmen Elros and Thingol in affairs of Doriath. There is also the possiblilty of thwarting her empty schemes for none know her mind better than I. My hope is that Elros is not as trusing of her as I foolishly was.

The recent cataclysmic events have been unsettling as of late. Combined with what I had witnessed on our wolf hunt, I grow more concerned. There is a connection to these events, yet I cannot put my finger upon it.
I will go to King Elros and discuss these matters with him and the leaders of the Noldor. This affects them as well, as it affects us all. Now is not the time to engage in petty squabbles, nor awaken ancient griefs. It is time to lay all that aside and band together. Perhaps with us working in concert, we may discover the root of these tidings.
What force could be powerful enough to level a mountain? A Vala perhaps? Morgoth, yet I do not think he has escaped. Is Eru himself enraged with the world? It does not serve me to sit here and speculate. I shall go now and seek the counsel of the others.

I do not think that Galadriel will be pleased with the current change of government in Doriath. She sought to exploit the madness of Thingol and Nienor's inexperience as a ruler to our advantage. Now that Elwe has regained his senses and named Elros as his sucessor, I believe there will be changes around here. Artanis' vision was to have a unified realm of the Sindar by combining Doriath with Lothlorien. Yet I think that Elros will be an effective rule and furthermore since he is of the bloodline of both the princes of the Sindar and Noldor, he stands to unite our people. This far outweighs our own private ambitions. I think that my beloved wife will see this. For all her ambition, she is wise. She has the ability to percieve the greater good and what is best for the people of Doriath. However knowing her well, I would not put it past her to attempt to marry Celebrian off to Elros, so that she may be Queen of Doriath.
Though many have accused her of ruthless ambition, I have seen her true self. She has the humility of spirit though she may appear as the cold marble queen. Even if she were offered ultimate power to dominate all life, to reign over the kingdoms of Arda, I believe she would refuse. She would never inflict deliberate harm upon another. Though majestic and beautiful and terrible as the Morning, she is still simply Galadriel, whom I love.

A pleasant suprise occured yestereve, as my daughter Celebrian arrived in Doriath. I instructed her to remain in Lorien under the watchful eye of Haldir. She appears to have slipped away however. However disobedient her actions may be, I have to admire her indomitable spirit. Centuries ago I witnessed this same fiery spirit in a elf maiden newly arrived from the Undying Lands of the West. The same flames coursed within her veins and the light of Aman gleamed in her eyes. Her flaxen hair shined like the golden orb of Arien.
My people have lived in Beleriand since before the rising of the sun and moon. We are a folk who delight in the canopy of a starlit heaven and the shadows of a deep wood or dale.
The coming of the sun and moon signalled the end of an era for our people. While we rejoiced at the coming of these new lamps of Ilmen, we still favored the forests and caves to the open sunlit plains.
When I first beheld Galadriel in the halls of my kinsman Lord Elwe it was like the moment I witnessed the first rising of Arien. I was spellbound by her beauty and enthralled by her wit. Her mother named her Nerwen because she had the spirit of a man. She also was known as Artanis and Alatriel. In my adulation I called her Galadriel, the Lady of Light. Her kin did not see the light that illuminated from within her. When she took up this name she forsook the shadows of the past and began a new future with me.
A daughter was born unto us in Eregion. We named her Celebrian because she was an amalgamation of her mother and I. The first part of her name Celeb means silver in the Sindar tongue because she like me she possessed the ability to shrewdly garner information from quiet observations of her surroundings. Silver, the color of her hair, is soft and cool like moonlight. It is a color of tranquility. My daughter and I both possess this quaility of calmness and patience. Yet in other ways she differs from me and is more like her mother. This is why the second half of her name means queen. Like her mother she possesses the endownments of a natural born leader.
Galadriel is the the sun of my heavens, the warmth that ignites the passion within my soul. She is fire and light. I am more like the argentine moon and the night. The night is a time for quiet reflection and tranquility. My beloved and I are opposites. Yet from the alchemy of our love was born a union of opposites. Our daughter contains these oppossing forces with in her but these forces though opposites have become harmonious within her. Galadriel told me once that the favored hour of Valinor was when the light of the Two Trees was soften and the golden and silver lights blended. This light to me is akin to our Celebrian.
The future is cloudy somewhat to me, yet I do forsee this. My Celebrian who is the child of the golden sun and the silver moon, from her will spring a star of twilight, which is neither day nor night. This star shall outshine the very sun and moon itself.

I know that my darling Galadriel is the ambitious one but I had a thought. Things could so work out to our advantage here in Doriath. Thingol has gone batty and that twit Nienor the Lizard Queen is on the throne. Gally darling, I say we knock that girl off the throne and find a nice padded room for Old Man Thingol. We could so run this place. We should rename it West Lorien Hills and make it an exclusive neighborhood for young elven professionals. So dear what do you think?

I have been riding for three days now and I shall reach Doriath soon. I sense Galadriel's presence for she is the Lady of Light and her light is a beacon which I feel with the senses of my soul. Anticipating our reunion, I think about the presence of others in Doriath. I sense hostility and old griefs like the scabs of wounds that have been picked off and haven't healed. I have always believed that the reason that Melkor was able to defeat the Eldar until we were saved by the Valar was due to our own weakness and pride. It was the Kinslaying of the Teleri by Noldor that was the first tragedy. The second being the Ruin of Doriath again elf slew elf. Why must the hands of our people be stained with this blood. The Doom of Mandos has been lifted yet this curse still clings to us. Some of my wife's kin as well are hostile to her, primarily because she is of the Teleri blood, as well as the Noldor. Second because she married a Prince of the Sindar. If we had stood united against Morgoth then perhaps many tragedies could have been averted. We are like vines in the forest choking out the life from the trees all struggling for life, yet with our quarreling we poison the very essence of life itself. I think of this as I ride to my beloved, I care not of her kith or kin. I love her for her own sake and not her high lineage.
